CIRA AND CONOR

OUR STORY

Cira and Conor met at Trinity College Dublin during orientation week. Cira was starting her M.Phil in Early Modern History while Conor had just begun his Ph.D. in Law. After chatting at a house party, Conor and Cira knew they each had met someone special, and immediately made plans to meet again. And again. And again. They fell in love over walks through Donnybrook, coffees in Merrion Square, glasses of wine at the Bank on College Green, talking about their families, shared faith, and hopes for the future and, critically, repeat sessions of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The first year passed in a whirlwind, and as the academic year wound to a close, Cira and Conor began planning for a new challenge--long distance. After receiving her M.Phil, Cira started law school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI while Conor stayed in Dublin to finish his Ph.D. and complete his Barrister-at-Law degree. Busy schedules prevented Conor and Cira from seeing each other much more than twice a year, but during all of the chaos of law school and professional qualification, even during a global pandemic, Conor and Cira kept each other grounded, never missing an evening call or a morning message. From early on in their relationship, they both knew they wanted to get married, have a family, and build a home together. This dream would sustain them and spur them on through several years of long-distance, with its highs and lows.

On 15th July 2021, Conor asked Cira to be his wife and shortly afterward they discovered they could finally put long distance behind them when, out of law school, Cira landed a position as an associate at the London office of a major law firm and Conor began working as an assistant professor at the University of Liverpool.

Conor and Cira thank God for having found each other, and for the unwavering support and encouragement of countless friends and, above all, their beloved families. They can imagine no better start to their married life than to share their deep joy with those who have raised them, taught them, loved them, and sustained them through everything.

TRAVEL

FLIGHTS TO DUBLIN

KANSAS CITY TO DUBLIN

There are many flight options from Kansas City to Dublin. The closest airport to our venue is the Dublin Airport. Common layovers include Chicago, Boston, JFK, Newark, and D.C.

If flying through Chicago O'Hare, allow extra time in your layover to transfer to Terminal 5 for international flights.

ACCOMMODATIONS

CASTLEKNOCK HOTEL

We have reserved a hotel block at Castleknock Hotel. The hotel is a 5 minute drive from the Castle venue and a 20 minute drive to Trinity College Dublin. We will also be offering shuttle services between the hotel and the various event locations.

Please call reception directly to book a room and quote the Casey-Danda wedding block.

THE SHELBOURNE HOTEL

A beautiful hotel walking distance from Trinity College Dublin. The Shelbourne offers a phenomenal location in the middle of central Dublin as well as a fantastic bar and dining service. Even if you are not staying at the Shelbourne, we highly recommend a visit to the Horseshoe Bar located just inside the hotel lobby.

THE DEAN

A centrally located hotel, just next to St. Stephen's Green. The rooftop bar, Sophie's, is a popular location for cocktails and an amazing view of the city center. This hotel is about a 15 minute walk to Trinity College Dublin and a 20 minute taxi to Luttrellstown Castle.

THE IVEAGH GARDENS HOTEL

This hotel is centered in one of Dublin's most lively and popular nightlife strips with everything from fancy cocktail bars to all-night night clubs. The hotel itself is very stylish and quiet, despite it's bustling location.

TRANSPORTATION

TAXIS

Taxis are readily available at the airport and around central Dublin. In the city, you can find taxis at designated taxi stands or through booking a taxi on the Free-Now app, which works just like Uber. If grabbing a taxi at the airport or at a taxi stand, have cash on hand. Most Dublin taxis do not accept card, unless pre-booked with Free-Now.

CARS

Car rentals are available from Dublin Airport. If renting a car for your stay in Dublin, be aware that parking around Dublin City Center is very limited, and we highly recommend using a taxi service in the city. However, if you choose to travel outside of Dublin before or after the wedding, a car is the best way to see the beautiful Irish countryside and make the most of your journey across the island.

CIRA & CONOR'S FAVORITE PLACES

LUNCH

Where: Pog
What: One of our favorite spots for lunch. We highly recommend their protein pancakes with all of the toppings! Pog also has delicious brunch items as well as a full selection of sandwiches and salads. They also have an afternoon tea offering.

AFTERNOON TEA

Where: The Shelbourne Hotel
What: The Shelbourne is our favorite setting for afternoon tea. The Shelbourne offers a beautiful tea room with delicious finger sandwiches and desserts. The teas are wonderful, and you have the option of adding champagne.

DINNER

Where: Las Tapas de Lola
What: Our go-to dinner date spot for special occasions. Las Tapas De Lola is a cozy restaurant on Camden Street serving an assortment of Spanish fare. We are huge fans of the calamari and the patatas bravas. This restaurant is very popular, so be sure to call for a reservation several days in advance.

COCKTAILS

Where: Vintage Cocktail Club
What: Exactly what it sounds like, the Vintage Cocktail Club is vintage-inspired cocktail bar. We visited here on our second date before seeing a film at the Irish Film Institute. The bar is richly decorated, and it feels like you've been transported back in time when going inside. You must make a reservation in order to be allowed inside--the bar operates much like an old speakeasy.

AN IRISH PUB

Where: Doyles
What: A Trinity favorite, Doyles is directly across from the College campus. Often filled with Trinity students during the day until late at night, Doyles was a frequent stop for us. While being a favorite student spot, Doyles offers a warm, traditional atmosphere to enjoy some pub grub along with a pint of Guiness or Smithwicks.

AN UPSCALE IRISH BAR

Where: The Bank
What: Just outside Trinity College, the Bank offers grand interiors with live piano music. We would often have a drink or two (or three) at the central bar. The Bank also has very friendly employees. The bartender helped us secure a taxi home during the "Big Snow" in 2018 by calling his taxi-buddy who luckily had chains on his tires.

ACTIVITIES

THE BOOK OF KELLS

Located in Trinity College Dublin, the Long Room Library is home to not only one of the most beautiful reading rooms in the world, but also to the Book of Kells. Over 1,200 years old, the Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript of the Gospels and widely regarded as Ireland's greatest cultural treasure. It is well worth the visit!

THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF IRELAND

The National Gallery is Ireland's premier gallery of art. Located just across from Trinity College, the gallery is free to the public and houses works by Turner, Vermeer, Caravaggio, and many others.

THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF IRELAND - ARCHAEOLOGY

Housing Ireland's famous bog bodies and a vast collection of Irish artifacts, the National Museum is a journey into Ireland's ancient past. Ireland's rich history beginning with the ancient Celts to the Viking age through Ireland's medieval monastic tradition is on display, and despite numerous visits over the years, I am always blown away by the collection.

HOWTH

Easily accessible on the DART, Howth is a lovely coastal town with great food and fantastic views. The Howth Cliff Walk should not be missed. From the walk, you have an incredible vantage point over the Irish Sea, and at the highest point of the hike, you'll find a pub where you can grab a pint and rest before heading back down to the town.

SANDYCOVE 40 FOOT

For the more adventurous, the 40 Foot in Sandycove is a popular swimming destination at all times of the year. The waters during the summer months are quite nice for a swim, and there is a beautiful beach just a few minutes walk away.

It will be a late night with plenty of drinks and dancing, so plan accordingly!
